In 1809, in Brooke Co. D. Bk. 1, p. 505, his holding is listed as 75 acres, 144 perches, located on Tomlinson’s Run, in present day Hancock Co., W. Va. |

| RESI.Comment | the general assembly of Virginia, at its sessions in October, 1776, cut up the District of West Augusta into three new Virginia counties, Ohio, Yohogania, and Monongalia. These were indeed immense counties 1776 - Monongalia and Ohio counties were formed from part of Augusta county. People in the western counties of Virginia sent petitions to the Continental Congress asking for a separation of government from Virginia. They proposed that the new state be called Westsylvania. The separation was not granted. |
