| EVEN.Comment | Conn Cétchathach, Ard-rí na h'Éireann was the son of Fedelmid Rechtmar mac Tuathal, Ard-rí na h'Éireann.1 He was son of Fedelmid Rechtmar per the Annals.2 He was son of Tuathal Teachtmar per O'Hart.3 Also called Conn Cétchathach mac Feideilmid Rechtada. Also called Conn of the Hundred Battles.4 Also called Conn Ceadcatha.3 He was fought in battle against Eoghan Mor, also called Mogha Nuadhad, who forced him to divide Ireland with him into two equal parts by the boundry of Esker Riada, a long ridge of hills from Dublin to Galway, and to give the son of Eugene, Ailill Aulomm, his daughter, Sadhba, in marriage, in 122 or 123 in Maynooth, Ireland.5,6 He ruled his first year over Ireland in 123.4 110th Monarch of Ireland between 123 and 157.4,7 He was King of Connacht, Conn Ceadchadhach mac Fedhlimidh, and king of Ireland, circa 150.2 He was called Conn Ceadchathach (of the Hundred Battles), from the hundreds of battles fought by him and won, viz., 60 battles against Cahaer Mor, King of Leinster and the 109th Monarch of Ireland, whom he slew and succeeded; 100 battles against the Ulstermen and 100 more in Munster against Mugh Nuadhat, their king before 157.8 He died in 157 in Tuath Amrois, Ireland. After having been thirty five years in the sovereignty of Ireland, he was slain by Tibraite Tireach, son of Mal, son of Rochraidhe, King of Ulster.9 |
